First Steps @ Chichester
First Steps @ Chichester was founded in 1990 as a 24 place Day Nursery on the Chichester College Campus and after several expansions, it moved into its current building in 1998, where it now operates as a 142 place Nursery.
Our aim is to provide a friendly, safe and secure environment where the individual needs of each child is met by our established, dedicated team of staff in partnership with parents.
The highly professional and fully qualified staff team are supported by a number of apprentices training towards their NVQ level 2 or level 3 in Childcare. We also have our own Early Years Practitioner in training who leads on the planning and development of the Early Years Foundation Stage throughout the nursery.
Our Keyworker system ensures that each child's development is recorded and future planning is tailored to their individual needs. Involvement and feedback from parents is actively encouraged through our planning and observation systems.
Being part of the College Campus, we have regular access to the college sports hall and playing fields as well as having our own Nursery garden, providing plenty of versatile space with a separate area for the babies and a more challenging environment offering opportunities to explore and investigate for the older children.
Our Nursery days are structured but flexible with a range of indoor and outdoor experiences planned throughout the day. We aspire to ensure your child's early years are spent in a fun, loving and stimulating setting which will promote a positive impact on their future development and learning.
We achieved an overall 'Good' in our last Ofsted inspection and have also been accredited with the West Sussex Early Childhood Quality Award.
