Step Three

Step Three is designed for children aged approximately 2.5 years to 5 years old.

The room is divided into zoned areas encouraging children to develop in all the six areas of learning that is set out by the Early Years Foundation Stage including problem solving, communication, language and literacy and Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Resources are provided that challenge children's thinking and staff support the children during their play and develop and extend these through questions, discussions and further investigation.

Preparing children for school is an integral part of this room and independence is strongly promoted giving children opportunities to explore the cause and effect of actions and the need to follow rules and procedures for their time in school.
