Student Nursery

The Student Nursery has 47 registered places for children aged 3 months to school age. This facility is primarily for the use of students attending Chichester College, however places can be made available to students studying in surrounding areas.
The children are based within three age groups, 3-16 months, 16-30 months and 30 months to school age. A range of age appropriate activities are provided for these children between the hours of 9.00am - 5.15pm during College term time hours.
Our babies individual needs are met in a cosy room with soft play as well as learning toys as they start to sit up and take notice of their surroundings. When they are ready they may try some finger painting or messy play as well as some fresh air in our garden. Singing and stories are enjoyed and keyworkers will work closely with parents to become familair with new milestones met at home so they can help children achieve their next one. Fruit is served at snack time as children start to enjoy finger food and a hot lunch is provided which is served to the children at midday.
Our toddler room is a very busy place as children develop their own characters and start to make choices about what they want to do. Children are able to choose from outdoor play, arts and crafts as well as a range of construction and small world play. Usually a little bit of every is selected throughout the child's session. Children sit together to have fruit and drinks at snack time. A hot lunch is enjoyed together at midday and children who need to, go for an afternoon nap. Walks around the campus are lots of fun as well as all the messy play we can get our hands on.
Our pre-school room buzzes with children learning to assert themselves and develop their independance. A huge range of activities are planned for the children to participate in or they can choose to play in the home corner, sand and water or on the computer. Stories are enjoyed together as well as singing and movement. Outdoor play is a must and children use our wet weather gear to play in the rain! Children learn to recognise new shapes, colours and even their own name in this area as our activities are designed to maximise their learning potential. Regular observations carried out by keyworkers help us to measure where a child is ready to go next. A hot lunch is enjoyed together at midday and tea at 3.30pm.
Students may be entitled to a free childcare place in the Student Nursery while they study. Please call the College on 01243 786321 and ask to be put through to financial support.
